The substitute guarantor must be in one of the following ways: spouse, parents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brothers and sisters, children (18 years old or older), sons, daughters, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren or legal guardians. The substitute guarantor must also be an American citizen or legal guardian. It means that the substitute guarantor must be the spouse, parents, mother-in-law, children of brothers and sisters of the father-in-law, older than 18, sister-in-law or brother-in-law. They need to hold a green card or have a job as an American citizen with the grandson or legal guardian of the grandparents of their legal brother-in-law.
