The South-to-North Water Transfer Project passes through Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Hebei, Henan, Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Tianjin and Beijing. Provinces participating in the South-to-North Water Transfer Project:

1. The East Route Project of South-to-North Water Diversion involves Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Hebei and Tianjin. The eastern route project used the canal of the Yuan Dynasty. The purpose is to alleviate the shortage of water resources in Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Hebei and Tianjin.
