Denver, USA, is the capital and largest city of Colorado, located on a plain adjacent to the Rocky Mountains.

Denver's nickname is The Mile-High City, which means a city one mile high, because the height measured on the 15th step on the west side of the state capitol building is one mile (5,28 feet, or 1,69 meters) above sea level.

Denver was built in 1858. It was originally a small coal mining town. Soon after the town was built, gold mines were discovered here, attracting a large number of gold prospectors.
