Penguins generally live in Antarctica. Why are there penguins in Africa?
I'm not talking about Madagascar in comics (there are no penguins in Madagascar in reality), I'm talking about Cape Town, South Africa. There are indeed a group of African penguins living on the beach in Simon Town, Cape Town. Simon Town is located halfway from downtown Cape Town to the Cape of Good Hope. Whether you sign up for a tour or travel alone, you can stay here.
Because there are a group of penguins living here all the year round, it has become a penguin park with a special seaside plank road. Walking on the plank road, you can see these cute little guys.
Penguins don't necessarily live in ice and snow, but they must all be cute. Their wobbly steps and silly eyes all look awkward.
Most penguins live on the beach by the sea, some penguins play in the sea, and some penguins hide in the low bushes and tickle themselves with their mouths.
You may also see some penguins dozing off, so cute that people can't help but want to pick them up.
Penguins who like to live in groups usually lay their eggs on a flat beach, and penguin couples take turns to look after their eggs. The penguin who looks after will cover his body on the egg, and the other penguin will go out for food. It is said that it rotates every 10 day.
Adult African penguins are about 68-70cm tall and weigh 2 kg to 5 kg. They have black stripes or spots on their chests and bodies.
The subcutaneous fat of this African penguin is not as thick as that of the Antarctic penguin, and there are pink glands on its eyes. If its body temperature rises, more blood will flow through this gland, thus achieving the effect of cooling down. Of course, it's really hot, and they will jump directly into the water.
Their black and white body color is a good camouflage, the black in the north of their bodies is a camouflage for predators in the sky, and the white in their abdomen is a camouflage for predators looking up underwater. Every penguin is a good swimmer.
