How does Buddhism adjust my fears?

The Huayang Sutra of Dafang Guangfo (Volume 442) 2001122 File name of Hong Kong Buddhist Association: 12- 17-0442.

Please look at the sixth poem "The Wonders of the World are Strict" by the Lord Poseidon:

The Buddha sees that all beings are often frightened and move in the sea of life and death, which shows that he has no way to come to the Buddha and is happy to see life.

This is Miao Hualong's Master of Poseidon. His learning method is to "eliminate all kinds of interests and pains and get rid of happiness." At the beginning of the ode, he said, "The Buddha is always afraid when he sees all beings." It can be seen that these main sea gods and these gods are the embodiment of Buddha. When we read this sentence today, we are deeply touched, because the modern world has been attacked by some terrorists, and people in some regions and countries are physically and mentally uneasy, and living in terror is really "constant terror." If we are trapped in this kind of life for a long time, we can easily think of schizophrenia that people all over the world are talking about now, and the mental illness that we are talking about, and this patient will definitely increase greatly. This is no small matter, this is really a catastrophe. Many people in the world are in terror, especially now. Recently, I often met fellow initiates in the United States and Canada. They faxed and called me and asked me what to do.

Of course, Confucius once said, "You can't live in a dangerous country, but you can't escape from it." Confucius taught us this, but now we live in this environment, this world. However, people who study Buddhism must realize that people can't live without death in this world, so the word "death" is never taboo when studying Buddhism. In particular, Jing Zongyinzu, an old man who teaches others, should always put the word "death" on his forehead and think "I'm going to die". Why do you teach people like this? If you want to teach people to be vigilant, you must practice hard. Who hasn't died since ancient times? What's the difference between premature death and longevity? We should always look down on this matter and don't be afraid. We have no desire for life and are not afraid of death. Such people have the conditions to learn Taoism. Especially the fellow practitioners who studied Buddhism, the Buddha told us in all the classics that the universe is so big that it is definitely not the realm we have come into contact with in this life. What we can touch, what most people call three-dimensional space, is more than four degrees, and the space is boundless. The Buddha told us about the Ten Dharma Realms, and today we live in the Dharma Realm on earth. Some animal law circles live in three dimensions, and we can touch them. Some animals are not three-dimensional, so we can't contact them. We haven't seen them. I also heard that the ancients once said that it was recorded in ancient books, and now it is gone in this world. Extinct like dinosaurs? Hard to say!

Scientists have proved to us that the earth has been flooded at least four times. Every time the interval is very long, the flood once every tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of years, the whole land is annihilated and the crust changes seriously, which is called the passage of time. We can believe that. Why? Many climbers came back and told us that they saw some fossils of the aquarium in the sea at the highest place in the Himalayas. How did the fish in these waters get into the mountains? I think the Himalayas must have been at the bottom of the sea. The earth's crust changed. It rose and the land sank. This change is normal in the whole history of the earth. With such changes, almost all living things on the earth will be extinct, and all life will start from scratch. This is acceptable for some people who have been baptized by science now, and they are not confused.

So life and death is a common thing, but life and death is a big thing. Where is it? Where we go after death, this matter will be big! We are not afraid of life or death. We must know where to go after death and where our lives come from. If we know where we come from and where we are going after death, we won't have the fear of life and death. What are we studying Buddhism for today? It's for this great event. We should not only live a happy life before now, but if we ignore the important events in the future, our life will be empty and white. No matter how brilliant the career is, the wealth will reach its peak, and the report card is equal to zero. This is the really terrible thing. Life and death are not terrible.

So monasticism is a big deal. What do Buddhists practice? Caution, determination and wisdom are very important things, and this thing cannot be neglected. How many people come to their senses? Some fellow initiates around us have learned a lot about Buddhism. Are they really conscious? Careful observation, or confusing, upside down, or turned by the outside world. Is there a reason why being transformed by the outside world is not scary? How many people really wake up and wake up? As the Shurangama Sutra says, "If you can change places, you will come to the same place." . He cannot be changed by the external environment, but he has the ability to change the environment. This is the real consciousness. We should be open-minded and truly open-minded. Even if we don't have the ability to change the environment now, at least today we can stand firm in the environment and not be changed by the realm, and then strive to raise the realm wisdom to the realm that can be changed. This life has never been empty or wasted.

What is Poseidon's ability to help these horrible creatures from birth to death? "Show him as the Buddha's supreme", and "He" refers to these beings who are suffering from terror, enlighten them and show them. What is "Tathagata first"? The teachings of Buddhism are different from the laws of the modern world. Buddhism teaching teaches you "Buddha first" from the beginning, and then helps you improve step by step and help you achieve perfection. Then we have to ask, what is the supreme way? This is a matter of great concern to everyone. The Buddha said in the Ten Good Classics, and so did the Ten Good Classics in the Dragon Palace. When the enemy is the dragon king, he and the main sea god are family. "Buddha tells the Dragon King: Bodhisattva has the law to get rid of all the sufferings in the world", which is important! All the worlds belong to the nine dharma realms. Today, we are talking about different dimensions of beings, each with different degrees of suffering. Is there any way for Bodhisattva to get rid of all the sufferings in the world? We can't help but pay attention to this. What is this rule? The Buddha said, "Always read, think and keep the good dharma day and night." . Always read the good law and have a good heart; If you think about Dharma well, your thoughts are good. Obey the good law, and your behavior is good. If Buddhism is given to the public, it is necessary to let good Buddhism grow, and it is not allowed to mix bad ones. This paragraph is too important! This is the highest way for the Tathagata! Teach what? Teach beginners. As soon as you enter Buddhism, the Buddha will teach you this. These words in the Ten Good Classics of Taoism completely correspond to the "three blessings of pure walking" in the Classic of Guanyin Bodhisattva.

In Guan Jing, Mrs. Wittig suffered changes in her family and country. She was extremely depressed about her life and didn't want to live. She is a disciple of the Buddha. She knows the truth. No matter how great setbacks and difficulties people encounter, they cannot commit suicide. Suicide can't solve the problem, it will only make the problem more complicated and the afterlife more bitter. So she knew she didn't want to kill herself. She asked Buddha Sakyamuni for advice. She knows that there are many ten buddhas in the world. "The world is not good. Can I immigrate to other worlds? " ? What we are talking about now is immigration. Buddhism is about going to live, and going to live is the same as the immigration we are talking about today. She moved the idea. Buddha Sakyamuni is very merciful, and the Buddha does not introduce her actively. The Buddha used his divine power to show the world of the Ten Buddhas in front of her, just like we are watching TV now. You can see for yourself and choose for yourself. After reading it, she said to Sakyamuni Buddha, "I think Amitabha's paradise is very good." This world is ideal and I really want to die. " Ask Sakyamuni Buddha to teach her how to live in the bliss of Amitabha Buddha. Mrs. Wittig made the right choice. She is really a good student of Sakyamuni Buddha.

Before the Buddha taught her the method, he taught her to practice "three blessings of pure industry", which is the basis of practice. If you don't have this condition, there is nothing you can do. Pure karma has three blessings and one * * * 31 sentences. The last Buddha said that these three sentences are "the positive cause of the purity of the three Buddhas", which is very important! Three: past lives, all Buddhas, from us ordinary people, no matter which dharma you practice, 84,000 dharma, boundless dharma, no matter which dharma you practice, you should take this as the basis. Without this foundation, you can't practice anything. Just like building a house, the three blessings of the network are laying the foundation. No matter what kind of house you build and how high it is, the foundation is the same. You must lay a good foundation first. If you don't lay a good foundation, you will always have to build an awning. That's why. So today we see that whether many practitioners can become monks at home depends on their background.

First of all, people are blessed. People can't do it well, can they still want to become Buddhas? How can this be true? The first four sentences: "Honor adoptive parents, serve teachers, do not kill with kindness, and practice ten virtues." Tao Jing with ten good deeds is to cultivate ten good deeds. If the Ten Good Classics can't be successfully implemented, you are unfilial, your filial piety can't be achieved, and you can't serve your teacher. If we really want to do a good job of filial piety to teachers, we must implement the top ten acts of kindness. Therefore, if you can't learn ten virtues, it's useless for you to learn Buddhism. You can only have one practice in Buddhism, but you haven't set foot on the threshold of Buddhism. Don't pretend to learn Buddhism, convert to Buddhism, and be protected by bodhisattva. It's fake! Buddha and Bodhisattva denied it. Not only does Buddha and Bodhisattva deny it, but ghosts and gods also deny it, and ghosts and gods look down upon it. I'm telling the truth. You must have the foundation of ten good karma before you can enter the Buddha.

What should I fix before entering the Buddha? Practice three conversions first, so the second rule: "Be accepted by three conversions, quit your feet, and don't commit dignity", make good use of it. How can there be three conversions without ten good karma? Three conversions are an important program of Buddhist practice, and three conversions are "awareness without confusion, righteousness without evil, purity without dye". No matter which method you learn, this is the general direction, program and line of the 84 thousand law and the infinite law. I want to ask: from morning till night today, have you been aware of people, things and things without being confused, being right but not evil, being clean but not dirty? Did you do it? If you are still obsessed with evil, you have not converted. Conversion is a turning back. You didn't look back, and you didn't rely on it. "conversion" means turning back from mystery and seeing; Looking back from evil, we should know what is right and see what is right; Looking back from the pollution, I will purify my mind. You didn't look back, and you didn't rely on it. Find a mage there and make three conversions. This is not true. I think I am a Buddhist, and I think I practice according to the classics. Finally, I fell into three evil ways. You can't blame others. You have to blame yourself for your ignorance and superstition of Buddhism. If you don't know what Buddhism is, you will be confused in the future. It is impossible to become a Buddha in a muddle, there is no such thing! You have mastered these three general guidelines and general lines. How to go this way? Starting with the precepts, it means "Enough abstinence, no dignity." That is to enrich and enhance the ten good deeds. You are a true Buddhist disciple, and you are just getting started. You can't get into this Buddhism without filial piety and respect for teachers. How many people really learn Buddhism?

Third, this is Mahayana Bodhisattva, who "inspires bodhicitta, believes in cause and effect, recites Mahayana and exhorts practitioners". Only in this way can you have a solid foundation and achieve something no matter what method you learn. As for which method to choose, it is your own root, your own hobby, and the Buddha does not force it. We should take root in this place and learn Buddhism. You have no foundation, no foundation, that's false, that's not true, and you will fail in the end. Poseidon is here, which means "showing that there is no way to become a Buddha". We decided not to despise the top ten acts of kindness. Many of our common painted Buddha statues have a round lamp on their heads, and three words are written on the round lamp. I have seen these three words in Chinese, Sanskrit and Tibetan. The words are different, the content is exactly the same, and the pronunciation is the same: read, read, read. What do these three words mean? That is, ten good deeds, "Yi" is the physical occupation, "A" is the oral occupation, and "Yi" is the mental occupation. The Buddha taught us to practice in the Infinite Life Sutra, which is also the same teaching. He is good at protecting the three industries, "being good at protecting the mouth, not biting people;" Be good at protecting your body without losing grace; Be good at taking care of your own business, clean and pollution-free. These are "the three words of" ho, ho and ho ".These three words are ten good deeds. Well, my occupation is clean. I don't kill, steal or lust. Ah, clean mouth, no nonsense, no tongue, no bad mouth, no swearing; Well, my profession is clean, not greedy, not jealous, not stupid.

You know, ten good deeds are not completed until the Tathagata really bears fruit. The teaching of Buddhism, from the beginning, from the beginning to teach you, until the completion is still this method. It can be seen that the infinite practice is nothing more than the implementation and successful achievement of the "Ten Good Practices"! That's it. This is Tathagata. He realized the dragon bun Poseidon, and he really understood it. He was happy. The dharma we are talking about is full of joy.
