The site found in Zhangshu City, Jiangxi Province is located in Wucheng Village, Qian Shan Township, Zhangshu City, Jiangxi Province, on the hilly slope in the upper reaches of Xiaojiang River.

Wucheng site is located in Zhangshu City, Jiangxi Province. Wucheng site was discovered in 1973, and excavation began in the same year. This is the earliest site of Shang Dynasty discovered in the south of the Yangtze River in China. Its discovery and excavation marked a brand-new stage of early civilization in Jiangxi and opened a new chapter in Shang Dynasty archaeology in southern China.

Wucheng site is a large-scale Du Yi site in the middle and late Shang Dynasty in southern China, with a total area of about 4 square kilometers. There are pottery kiln area, smelting area, residential area, tomb area, sacrifice square and other relics found in the site. Thousands of relics have been unearthed, such as pottery, primitive porcelain, bronzes and stone tools. Among them, the discovery of exquisite primitive celadon proves that this area is one of the birthplaces of celadon.

Wucheng site was discovered during the construction of Wucheng Reservoir in autumn of 1973. Year: BC15th century ~ BC 1 1 century.

After six scientific excavations, * * * revealed an area of more than 2,000 square meters, with cultural accumulation ranging from 2 meters to 3 meters. It is divided into seven levels and three periods of culture. * * * Clean up 2 building foundations, 2 kiln sites 12, 55 ash pits and 6 tombs 16. More than 900 relatively complete stone tools, pottery, bronzes, jade articles and tooth carvings have been unearthed, especially Wen Tao, primitive porcelain and bronze casting tools, which is a new major archaeological discovery in Jiangxi.

Significance: The discovery of Wucheng site is of great significance to understand the emergence and development of indigenous bronze culture in the Yangtze River basin.
