Barboucha is located in the northeast of Gulang County, Gansu Province, on the southern edge of Tengger Desert. Gulang County, located at the eastern end of Hexi Corridor, is the hub of the ancient Silk Road. It belongs to Wuwei City, Gansu Province, the land of Mata Yan Fei, the tourist symbol capital of China, and is a key desertification monitoring county in China. In the early 1980s, nothing grew here, wild sand raged, eroding the farmland in the village, and the ecological environment deteriorated extremely, which seriously affected the production and life of the people.

In 1980s, Barboucha, the largest sandstorm mouth in Gulang County, Gansu Province, on the southern edge of Tengger Desert, was swallowed up by sand people at a rate of 7.5 meters per year. The autumn wind blows the fields, and the spring wind blows the cows to death.

Six local farmers, nearly 300 years old, pressed their handprints together on the contract for contracting the desert, vowing to exchange their white hair for an oasis.

Today, only two of the six old people are still alive. Liu Laohan's descendants took the shovel from their parents and led the masses to close 370,000 mu of mountains to facilitate afforestation and plant 40 million trees, forming a solid green protective belt to protect the railways, national highways, farmland and poor immigrant areas here.
