Experience in applying for residence permit in Sweden

I participated in the school's public doctoral program to visit abroad, but applying for a visa or permit is not much different from the exchange program and short-term visit program. Partners participating in these programs can also refer to the experience of this article.

This list is actually a bit redundant, because you are generally not qualified to visit the school without an invitation letter from a foreign recipient.

It should be noted that the visiting programs I participate in generally receive invitations from foreign tutors, while the exchange programs generally receive admission notices from other schools, which will affect the application types of residence permits to some extent.

When applying for a visa (residence permit), the applicant will be required to produce a document to prove that the applicant can financially support his life in Sweden.

If you are visiting a school, there will generally be project funding support from the school; If there is no project funding or scholarship funding, then you need to provide some deposit and running water information in your personal account. See Article 5 for details.

If you don't have a passport, you can get it in a week by going to the exit-entry management office of the local public security bureau. If you have a passport, make sure that the validity period of the passport covers all visiting hours; If the passport is valid normally, it can be transferred to the next one.

To apply for a visa (residence permit), you need to provide insurance covering all visiting hours. It should be noted that only a study residence permit can obtain effective insurance for more than 180 days; Whether visiting relatives or staying at work, insurance companies can only provide insurance within 180 days.

In other words, if you expect to stay in Sweden for more than 180 days, you'd better apply for a residence permit for studying abroad.

After determining your application type, you can start applying.

You can choose to apply offline to embassies and consulates in China, Sweden, or online to the website of the Swedish Immigration Bureau.

It is recommended to apply online, because the embassy or consulate is only responsible for sending and receiving the applicant's application materials, so it will take more time for offline applications to be mailed back and forth than online applications.
