The Historical Origin of Panjin Rice

The history of rice cultivation in Panjin has reached 100 years. According to historical records, rice was planted in Panjin in 1907, and the planting area has been expanding since then. 1928, Zhang Xueliang founded Yingtian Co., Ltd., which initiated the mechanization of rice production in Northeast China.

From 65438 to 0948, after the liberation of Panjin, the government began to reclaim land on a large scale, build irrigation networks and improve the soil, especially to develop and build farmland with state-owned farms as units, which laid a solid foundation for Panjin to become an important commodity grain base in China.

The unique "immigrant culture" in Panjin history also promoted the development of rice culture. In the late 1960s, tens of thousands of "May 7th Army" and educated youth came to Panjin from all directions of the motherland to develop the "Southern Desert". They participated in rural production and construction, and promoted the progress of rice cultivation techniques in Panjin with their wisdom and hard work. Thanks to their joint efforts with local farmers, the saline-alkali land covered with wormwood has become a large paddy field. "Panjin rice is delicious" spread all over the country with the return of educated youth in the late 1970s.
