Because Jiangxi is a place with strong cultural characteristics, their local dialects are chaotic. The main city of Ganzhou uses Southwest Mandarin, while most people here in Jiujiang speak Jianghuai Mandarin. People in Shangrao are all Wu dialect, while the main body of Jiangxi is the language of Jiangyou people, so each region has its own different dialect, which leads to Ganzhou, Jiujiang and Shangrao not speaking Jiangyou people's language.

Ganzhou is special because most people in Ganzhou are descendants of Guilin people and Liuzhou people. Rebellion broke out in Gannan in the Ming Dynasty, and later the government transferred a large number of soldiers from Guilin and Liuzhou to suppress it. Shangrao is in the easternmost part of Jiangxi. Shangrao was actually a part of Jiangsu and Zhejiang at the earliest time, and was later assigned to Jiangxi, so it is normal for Shangrao to speak Wu dialect here. Then Jiujiang is a special place, because it is in the northernmost position, and there are frequent wars in this place, resulting in serious loss of local population. After each loss, the government will supplement it from Jianghuai immigrants. Over time, most people here speak Jianghuai Mandarin. Therefore, it can be seen from the above special circumstances that although most areas in Jiangxi speak the local language, there are always a few cities that are special.
