The geographical coordinates are 103°29′08"-104°19′34" east longitude and 35°03′42"-35°56′46" north latitude. The total area is 2851 square kilometers.

Historical evolution of Lanzhou City

In August 1949, Lanzhou was liberated. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, the establishment of Lanzhou City has changed several times.

In 1985, three townships in Baiyin District and Gaolan County were placed under the jurisdiction of Baiyin City and became the jurisdiction of the current city.

In August 2012, the State Council issued the "Reply of the State Council on Approving the Establishment of Lanzhou New Area", agreeing to establish the national-level Lanzhou New Area.

In December 2012, Dingyuan Town and Lianda Township in Yuzhong County were entrusted to Lanzhou High-tech Zone for management.
