Article 26 of the Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on the Entry and Exit of Foreigners stipulates:

Units that employ foreigners to work or recruit foreign students shall report to the exit-entry administration of the public security organs of local people's governments at or above the county level in time if they find any of the following circumstances:

(1) The employed foreigner leaves his post or changes his work area;

(2) Recruited foreign students graduate, complete their studies, drop out of school and leave the original recruiting unit;

(3) employing foreigners or recruiting foreign students in violation of the regulations on exit and entry administration;

(4) The employed foreigners and the recruited foreign students are dead or missing.
