Time to leave the United States

(1) Entry and exit apostille. Before new immigrants receive their permanent residence certificate, they can use the stamp in their original passport to obtain a temporary entry and exit visa. This kind of seal is an entry permit stamped by the port immigration officer as an entry inspection when immigrants enter the country, allowing the holder to enter and exit the United States within six months or one year with this certificate.

(2) The proof of permanent residence is the green card. If you can return to the United States after leaving the United States for less than one year, you can enter and leave the United States with this certificate.

(3) Re-entry permit. If foreign nationals want to leave the United States for more than one year, they should apply to the Immigration Bureau for a "re-entry permit", that is, a return permit, three months before leaving the country. This type of permit is generally valid for two years. If you need to extend it, you can Extended for another year. People who hold a re-entry permit do not need to apply for a visa when they intend to return to the United States after traveling or doing business abroad.

When applying for a re-entry permit, the applicant should go to the local immigration bureau to obtain an I-131 form or call the immigration bureau and ask the immigration bureau to send the I-131 form to the applicant. Form I-131 is a form specifically used to apply for a re-entry permit. On the form, you must carefully write down the number on your foreign permanent residence registration certificate (green card), when and where you plan to leave the United States, the country you are going to, and how long you will leave the United States.

Submit the completed I-131 form to the USCIS and attach 2 color photos. It is best to apply at least one month before the scheduled departure, because it usually takes several months to be approved, but the applicant does not have to wait until the re-entry permit is obtained before leaving the United States.
