If the related problems are not handled properly, it will lead to the destruction of natural resources, ecological environment and landscape environment. If the pumped storage power station is built on the reservoir, it may cause a large area of land inundation and biological loss, break the local ecological balance and induce geological disasters such as collapse, landslide and earthquake.

Frequent pumping and drainage will lead to frequent changes in the water level, slope, flow direction, flow velocity, water quantity, sediment concentration and nutrients of the upper and lower reservoirs, resulting in changes in the water quality of the reservoirs, which may lead to the destruction of the ecological environment of the reservoirs and the difficulty in the survival of aquatic organisms in the reservoirs.
