The Political Attitude of Peter's Cartoons

Peter has a keen sense of political smell, and his satirical cartoons always stand out in the editorial pages, which has a great fighting effect. His political views are clear: oppose capitalism, oppose war and strive for peace. When answering a reporter's question, he firmly said: "I will, as always, expose the injustice in the world, and I will fight with my works for the sake of working people."

As Peter De's political attitude became more and more clear, the Social Democratic Party and the bourgeoisie quickly changed their attitudes towards him. 1947, Peter published a cartoon satirizing Shu Taikai, then Minister of Social Democratic Party. The reactionary newspapers exclaimed that "this promising painter has lost his sense of humor" and spared no effort to slander him, saying that he is a "poisoner", "shameless villain" and "anti-Semitic". After that, even some smaller publishers attacked Peter. The original illustration task was contracted to another painter, and his editing work in the series "A Christmas Humor" was cancelled. Bookstores and newsstands also removed Peter's picture books, and even the picture books on the display shelves in the art exhibition hall were removed ... These not only hurt Peter's self-esteem, but also greatly affected his family income. The decrease of economic income and the soaring price make Peter's life more and more difficult. Peter and his wife Allen had to give up their house in Copenhagen and move to Liaoda, a suburb of Chen Le where his parents lived.

After the war, people all over the world are facing a new situation of opposing atomic weapons, such as the "Cold War", the invasion of the United States and its allies, Vietnam, Latin America, the Near East and Africa. Peter also used a paintbrush as a weapon to wage a ruthless struggle against imperialism and reactionaries, winning the respect of peace-loving people.
