Where is the best Mandarin?
First of all, Xinjiang is an immigrant province, similar to Shenzhen, which is found all over the country, so no dialect can occupy an absolute advantage. Especially in Corps cities, Mandarin plays a role in all aspects of life. Of course there are exceptions. Old Xinjiang dialect does exist in Wuchang area (Urumqi and Changji). I have lived in this area since I was a child. I deeply feel that the dialect of my parents is not as authentic as that of my ancestors (probably because of the popularity of Putonghua), but I can speak authentic Xinjiang dialect in my generation (post-90 s) (Xinjiang dialect refers to the local dialect of the Han nationality in Xinjiang, not Uygur! There are very few students, most of whom only know a few words and can't speak coherent and complete dialect sentences. In addition, the absolute Putonghua education in school daily teaching makes Xinjiang dialect less and less in daily life, while Putonghua is more and more energetic.
Secondly, some people will say that if Xinjiang has its own dialect, it is not good to speak Mandarin. I am now studying in Xi 'an University. At first, I felt that the students in Xi 'an spoke Mandarin very well, and even the problem that nasal sounds were difficult to distinguish in the northwest was common. However, in daily life, I think Shaanxi dialect is still the mainstay. As long as two local students are together, most of them communicate in Shaanxi dialect. So when I say Xinjiang Putonghua standard, I mean not only its pronunciation, but also its popularity and daily use.
Finally, I am a little sorry to post this post. I envy those students in the dormitory who can communicate with their families in their hometown dialect on the phone. Perhaps it is a sign of hometown culture, and when you really can only stutter a few words of the Mandarin version of Xinpu, maybe it is a lack of homesickness.
