Shanwei is geographically adjacent to the Chaoshan area, but it does not belong to the Chaoshan area. However, from the approximate degree, the Minnan dialect in Shanwei is closer to the Minnan dialect in Fujian and Taiwan than the two major types of Chaozhou dialect (Chaojie dialect and Chaopu dialect).
