Classification of IELTS test for studying in Britain
First, the classification of IELTS
General IELTS test
The general IELTS test is divided into academic class (Class A) and training class (Class G), which is a test of four kinds of English communication skills. For those who intend to study, work or immigrate in countries or regions where English is the language of communication, English proficiency test is very popular all over the world. It has been recognized by more than 9,000 institutions, immigration offices, government departments, professional organizations and employers.
Class A: Suitable for studying abroad and applying for undergraduate, postgraduate or above. If you want to go to the UK for an undergraduate or master's degree, you need to provide a class A IELTS score.
G: For non-academic purposes, such as going to work in the UK or receiving training and non-diploma courses, immigrants can provide G scores as required.
These two tests consist of four parts: listening, reading, writing and speaking. Among them, academic classes and training classes use the same test questions for listening and speaking, and different test questions for reading and writing. The first three exams (listening, reading and writing) must be completed on the same day. The oral test is usually arranged on any day one week before the written test and one week after the written test. According to the needs of the examination arrangement, under special circumstances, the date of the oral examination may exceed this range, and the British Council for Cultural Education reserves the right to adjust the oral examination arrangement.
British visa and immigration IELTS (UKVI)
The IELTS test for British visas and immigrants aims to meet the special examination requirements stipulated by the UK Visa and Immigration Service (UKVI). The content, form, difficulty, examiner and grading standard of this test are the same as those of the existing IELTS test. Only the test transcripts will be slightly different, which will show that the candidates are taking the IELTS test for British visas and immigrants.
To sum up, if students go abroad for undergraduate or graduate studies, it is enough to take the general IELTS test. However, if you want to take non-degree courses, such as middle school, junior college, preparatory course, language courses or some compulsory undergraduate majors, you must take UKVI.
IELTS Life and Skills Test
Test candidates' oral English and listening level, which is divided into two levels: CEFR (European * * * same frame of reference) A 1 and B 1. The examination aims to meet the requirements of the UK Visa and Immigration Service (UKVI) for UK-specific visa applications. CEFR is an international standard, which is mainly used to measure the proficiency of language learners in using a certain language.
Second, the difference between IELTS and UKVI.
In fact, UKVI's IELTS is exactly the same as the general IELTS in content, form, difficulty, examiner and grading standard.
However, compared with the ordinary IELTS test, fewer people choose UKVI.
Mainly in the following aspects:
1, different levels of security monitoring
The British Visa and Immigration Service will join the supervision of the examination security level. In order to meet the requirements of the British Visa Immigration Office for security monitoring, IELTS test sites for UKVI will be hosted, and its security monitoring technology and level will be higher. The invigilation of UKVI IELTS should not only meet the invigilation standards of IELTS, but also meet the requirements of UKVI test, so the invigilation will be more strict.
2. The test sites are different
At present, there are many IELTS test sites in Chinese mainland, but few UKVI test sites. However, there will be new test sites in various places one after another. Please pay attention to IELTS Chinese official website news for specific test site information. IELTS has 95 test sites in 43 cities in Chinese mainland. UKVI IELTS test center must be an ordinary IELTS test center, but not all ordinary IELTS test centers are UVKI test centers.
3. Different costs
After the price increase, the average IELTS is 2020 yuan (original price 1960), and the UKVI exam fee is 2070 yuan.
