Shu land in the Three Kingdoms period

The territory of Shu and Han reaches Wudu and Hanzhong in the north, Wuxia in the east, Baoyun and Guangxi in the south and eastern Myanmar in the west. A little bit of Yunnan province, most of Sichuan and Guizhou provinces, Shaanxi, southern Gansu, northwestern Guangxi, northeastern Myanmar and northwestern Vietnam.

Shu made great efforts to quell the rebellion in four counties: Dai Yue, Yizhou (now Sichuan), Yizhou (now Guizhou) and Yongchang (now Yunnan). The development of ethnic minority areas has strengthened national unity.

During the Three Kingdoms period, the territory was basically stable: the boundaries between Wei and Wu and Shu were Jianghuai, Dabie Mountain, Hubei Hanchuan to Xingshan Line, Daba Mountain and Qinling Mountains, and the boundaries between Wu and Shu were Hubei West, Guizhou Wuchuan to Taijiang Line, Guangxi West and China-Vietnam Border.

After Battle of Red Cliffs in 208, Liu Bei occupied Changsha, Lingling, Guiyang and Wuling counties in the south of Jingzhou. Liu Bei proposed to Wu Dong to "borrow" Jingzhou Nanjun (governing Jiangling), and Sun Quan finally agreed from the overall situation of jointly fighting Cao. According to Zhuge Liang's Longzhong Policy, the goal of capturing Jingzhou in the first stage was basically realized.

So Liu Bei asked Guan Yu to stay in Jingzhou, and he and Zhuge Liang, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun, Huang Zhong and others led the troops west to Yizhou. In 2 14, Yizhou Pastoral Liu Zhang surrendered, and Liu Bei occupied Shuchuan. The second stage of "Longzhong Dui" was realized.

In 2 15, Sun Quan thought that Liu Bei already had Yizhou, so he asked Liu Bei for Jingzhou Nanjun, and Liu Bei made an excuse to delay. Sun Quan was furious and sent Lu Meng to attack Changsha, Lingling and Guiyang. Just as Liu Bei sent troops to recapture Jingzhou, Cao Cao captured Hanzhong and directly threatened Sichuan. Liu Bei had to make peace with Sun Quan, and South County of Jingzhou, Lingling and Wuling all belonged to Shu Han.

In 2 19, Liu Bei retaken Hanzhong from Cao Jun, and Guan Yu stationed in Jingzhou was also eager to achieve success and went to the Northern Expedition alone. Although he escaped from the Forbidden City, beheaded Pound, bullied China, besieged Coss in Fancheng, and reached the highest military peak, the rear of Jingzhou was empty and was attacked by Monroe of Soochow, and Guan Yu was captured and killed by Wu Jun in Maicheng. The loss of Jingzhou made Shu Han lose an important base to forge ahead in the Central Plains, and Longzhong's decision on it died prematurely.

In 220, Cao Pi abolished the Han Emperor and established the State of Wei. In 22 1 year, Liu Bei proclaimed himself emperor in Chengdu under the banner of continuing the Han Dynasty, renamed Zhangwu (22 1-222), and the country name was Han (known as Shu or in history).

Liu Bei, who just proclaimed himself emperor, did not listen to Zhuge Liang and other ministers' dissuasion, and resolutely decided to pour out the power of the whole country, attack Wu, recapture Jingzhou and avenge Guan Yu. After several attempts to make peace were rejected, Sun Quan actively prepared to make peace with Cao Wei and strengthen Jingzhou's defense work.

In 222, Lu Xun, the general of the State of Wu, set fire to the Shu army for a joint venture of 700 Li, defeated Liu Beijun in Xiaoting and Liu Bei fled Zigui. In the same year, Liu Bei died in Baidicheng. Since then, Shu Han has been greatly weakened and has never recovered in the following decades. Zhuge Liang's grand strategic blueprint when he took countermeasures in Longzhong became a bubble, which laid the groundwork for the downfall of Shu Han in the future.
