The highest altitude along the road from Chaka Salt Lake to Dunhuang

From Chaka Salt Lake to Dunhuang, Gansu, there are basically no mountains, especially when walking in Golmud, there are even less mountains. Basically, you are walking in the Qaidam Basin, which is very flat. Even if you don’t go to Golmud and go to Delingha, there are no places that are too high, they are all below 3,000 meters.

The highest place is the Dangjin Pass on the G215 National Highway (Dunge Highway) at the junction of Qinghai and Gansu provinces. The altitude is 3649 meters. Dangjin Mountain is actually the western section of the Qilian Mountains, and over the mountain pass is the Gansu Hexi Corridor.
