Surprisingly, however, the Venezuelan military still supports the Maduro government and ignores the many benefits that Guaido may bring to power.

The reason why the Venezuelan military handled this is mainly because Guaido does not have the legitimacy to succeed the Venezuelan president. Guaido claimed to be the interim president, which was instigated by the United States and other western countries. As a sovereign country, it is impossible to allow other countries to interfere in the election of its leaders. So from this perspective, it is impossible for the Venezuelan military to support Guaido.

Secondly, after Maduro took office, he handed over Venezuela's oil trade to the military, which made the two sides closely integrated in interests and established a solid alliance. In contrast, Guaido is supported by western countries, and it is hard not to let the Venezuelan military consider the division of interests after he took office.
