Why do more and more students choose to study in Canada?
0 1 the cost of studying abroad is low.
In Canada, the most expensive U in Toronto is also the tuition level of ordinary American schools. Say a number, the tuition fee in Toronto U is 20,000-30,000 Canadian dollars a year. Of course, the major is different, but it should be the highest tuition in Canada. Tuition in American universities ranges from1-50,000 dollars, with an average of 20,000-30,000 dollars. Tuition in famous schools is very high! Especially the tuition fees of private universities.
It is legal to work while studying abroad.
International students who have studied in Canada for more than 6 months are allowed to work outside the school after obtaining a student visa. There is no need to apply for a work visa, but they must abide by the 20-hour/week limit and can work full-time during holidays. The future trend of Canadian immigrants studying abroad must be based on technology and proficiency.
If a student has been doing a part-time job in a similar job for four years in college, it is equivalent to 1~2 years of work experience when he graduates. In this way, students can choose non-entry-level jobs when they apply for jobs after graduation, increase their employment competitiveness and successfully obtain the qualification to immigrate to Canada.
Immigration policy and social welfare are good.
This is why many people choose Canada. At present, Ontario's policy for graduate students is still very good, and project graduates can get equal-length work visas within two years; Project graduates with more than two years can get a three-year visa.
In addition, master graduates can directly apply for provincial nomination projects, thus directly obtaining permanent residence qualifications. And social welfare is very generous, such as milk money, child care subsidies, government housing, unemployment benefits, social welfare payments and so on.
04 Good living environment
Canada is one of the countries with the most beautiful natural environment in the world, and students who come here to study will be lucky enough to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery of the country. Canada is famous for its social security, justice and peace. Canada has strict gun control. Because of its perfect education system, Canada has been rated as the most livable country for many years. Here, you can enjoy a high quality of life and a very low crime rate.
Overview of Canadian universities
The main purpose of studying abroad is to study, so the importance of choosing a school is self-evident. Next, Zhang Jun will take stock of several of Canada's most prestigious schools to see if there is a TA suitable for you in these schools!
University of Toronto
The University of Toronto is the first comprehensive school in Canada and one of the few universities in North America that implement independent college system. There are twelve colleges in the whole school, and each college enjoys a high degree of autonomy. The college of arts and sciences is the main body of the school, and it also implements the independent college system, including all the majors of science, literature, business and law.
It should be noted that the business department of the University of Toronto is under the College of Arts and Sciences, and the law major is also under the College of Arts and Sciences. The University of Toronto has three campuses, each with different admission requirements.
? St George's campus?
The main campus of the University of Toronto is St George's Campus, which has a history of nearly 200 years and is one of the oldest schools in North America. It enjoys a high reputation in the world and is synonymous with the University of Toronto. Usually, when we say the University of Toronto, we usually mean the St. George's campus.
There are two admission methods in St. George's campus: direct admission and double admission IFP program.
Direct admission requirements:
(1) The average score is above 85, and the scores of business and engineering are generally above 90;
(2) IELTS is 6.5, and the single item is not less than 6. The actual admission is generally 7-7.5 points;
(3)HKCEE's comprehensive score is not lower than B, and the main course is A;
(4) The results of the college entrance examination are suggested to be above one line, and the actual admission is basically around 600 points.
Double admission (IFP project admission) has the same requirements for students' academic performance as direct admission, but the language requirements are slightly lower, IELTS 5.0, writing 5.5 and others 5.0.
The IFP project lasts for 8 months. We can choose liberal arts college, engineering college, architecture college, music college, and other colleges, but these four colleges basically cover all the majors we want to choose. While completing the language course, you also need to study the courses of professional disciplines. After the course, you can get full credits in professional disciplines, and you can directly enter the relevant majors of the University of Toronto to continue to complete your bachelor's degree.
? Shijiabao Campus?
Scarborough Campus pays attention to the cultivation of undergraduates and mainly offers undergraduate courses, including four-year honorary degrees in literature, four-year honorary degrees in science and four-year honorary degrees in business administration. Scarborough Campus is also the only campus of the University of Toronto that offers paid internships. Students have four months paid internship from their sophomore year, before graduation 12 months.
I prefer the Co-op project in scarborough Campus. The perfect combination of theory and practice is very helpful for our future employment.
The admission of the Segabao campus is also divided into direct admission and double admission (green channel project). The conditions for direct admission to the Gabal campus are slightly lower than those of the St. George campus, but the difference is not particularly great.
Direct admission requirements:
(1) The average score is above 80;
(2) IELTS 6.5, with a single item of not less than 6;
(3) The score in HKCEE is not lower than B;
(4) no college entrance examination results are required.
The requirements of the green channel project for students' academic performance are the same as those of direct recording. The green channel project and conditional admission in Canadian schools are mainly aimed at languages. If your language is not up to standard, you can apply for the green channel project. The green channel project is a language course of 12 weeks, which starts in May every year. After passing the language course, you can enter the scarborough campus for classes.
? Mississauga campus?
You may not be familiar with the Mississauga campus. Mississauga Gaza Campus mainly offers undergraduate courses and interdisciplinary postgraduate courses, and its School of Communication, Culture and Information Technology is well-known in Canada.
The admission conditions of Mississauga Campus are similar to those of Gabal Campus:
(1) The average score is above 80;
(2) IELTS 6.5, with a single item of not less than 6;
(3)HKCEE B or above;
(4) score one more point in the college entrance examination.
It should be noted that in the application process, the three campuses of the University of Toronto can choose three majors, of which business is set in the College of Arts and Sciences. If you apply for business, you need to attend an interview. If you are not good at interviewing, you need to be prepared.
McGill University
McGill University, referred to as McGill for short, is located in Montreal, the second largest city in Canada, and is a world-famous research university. Founded in 182 1, the school is the oldest institution of higher learning in Canada. It has enjoyed a high reputation in the world for a hundred years and is known as "Harvard of Canada".
Mcgill University enjoys a special place in the hearts of Canadians. By 20 17, it has been ranked 13 in the ranking of Canadian universities continuously, and the application qualification line and average admission score (94.2%) are the first in Canadian universities. Mcgill University has the highest proportion of doctoral students in China, and students have won national and international awards far exceeding other universities, ranking first in the country.
The consumption level in Montreal is slightly lower, but McGill University is located in the French-speaking area, so it is difficult to recruit students, and there are not many foreign students in China. But the school teaches in English, so you don't have to worry too much. In addition, Quebec, where McGill University is located, can make its own immigration policy, which is faster and easier than other provinces. Students who plan to immigrate to Canada can consider McGill University.
Application requirements:
(1) IELTS minimum is 6.5, and the single item is not less than 6. Most majors have a minimum TOEFL of 90, education and management majors have a minimum TOEFL 100, and music majors have a minimum TOEFL of 79-80.
(2) When applying, you need to provide the results of Grade One and Grade Two, as well as the results of the first semester of Grade Three;
(3) the results of 3)HKCEE;
(4) The average score of senior high school and the pre-requisite scores of professional requirements should reach 85 or above;
(5) Those who take the college entrance examination must provide the results of the college entrance examination;
(6) You must achieve the required English scores. Mcgill University has no double admission. If you don't achieve the required English score, your application will be rejected;
(7) Do students in Gaomei need to provide SAT? For Level 2, students in BC, Canada need to pay special attention to English grade 12, because McGill University has requirements for English grade 12.
University of British Columbia
The University of British Columbia, also known as the University of British Columbia and the University of British Columbia, is located in Vancouver. The University of British Columbia integrates teaching and scientific research, covering a wide range of fields, offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses and other courses in the fields of humanities, natural sciences, medicine, law and business studies.
The University of British Columbia has a very strong business strength. The famous Sauder Business School has a large number of outstanding students entering top investment banks, consulting companies and accounting firms every year. When applying, you only need to choose a big direction, and choose liberal arts or science. After admission, students can choose the corresponding major according to their own interests.
When applying, you can choose the first major and the second major, which can be in different campuses. If the first major is not accepted, the school will consider the second major, and the University of British Columbia also offers a bridge course.
Direct admission requirements:
(1) GPA above 85, and SAT scores can be provided as reference;
(2) TOEFL at least 90, reading and listening at least 22, writing and speaking at least 6.5, or IELTS at least 6;
(3) When applying, you need to complete your resume and two documents online, and you need to highlight your achievements, work experience, volunteer experience and leadership ability.
If your English scores can't meet the requirements, you can apply for conditional admission. Conditional admission is the same as direct admission. We need to finish the English course in the language center of the school, but this course takes a long time. When applying for business school, we have to answer a series of interview questions besides writing paperwork. We can record our own videos to answer questions.
Students of the University of British Columbia have to take more courses during their undergraduate years, but the depth of the courses may not be as deep as those of famous eastern universities such as McGill University. Taking more courses will broaden our knowledge, help students choose their own professional direction and expand their employment choices.
University of Waterloo
The University of Waterloo is located in Waterloo, southwest Ontario, 0/00 km from Toronto/KLOC. It is a comprehensive university famous for science, engineering, mathematics and computer science.
The University of Waterloo is the first school in Canada to offer cooperative education (also known as paid internship). Through this course, students can get the opportunity to pay equal attention to subject learning and practice, so their practical ability and entrepreneurial ability are relatively strong.
Many entrepreneurs have graduated from the University of Waterloo, so they are called "the cradle of Canadian entrepreneurs" because their graduates are the first in Canada. Many world-famous enterprises, such as Google and Blackberry, were founded by graduates from the University of Waterloo. ?
The entrance requirements of all universities in Ontario are similar, mainly referring to the six compulsory courses in grade 12, but the school pays more attention to the English scores in grade 12. These six courses must include a required course for applying for a major and a required course for/kloc-grade 0/2 (/kloc-grade 0/2 English). If students have completed all the required courses and achieved excellent results at the time of application, they are likely to receive the admission notice from the university early.
The University of Waterloo requires a higher score, with a TOEFL score of not less than 90 and a writing and speaking score of not less than 25. Or IELTS is not less than 6.5, oral English is not less than 6.5, and reading and listening are not less than 6. ?
