Can New Zealand citizens apply for a spouse who has been in prison to settle in New Zealand?
There are three items that cannot be settled, as shown in the screenshot, from official website and New Zealand Immigration Bureau, namely:
More than five years in prison;
Accumulated imprisonment in recent ten years 12 months or more;
Expulsion, repatriation or revocation of visa in New Zealand or other countries.
There is no uniform rule for short-term imprisonment, and the principle of review depends on whether it will cause danger to the New Zealand public. For example, drugs and sexual assault are definitely not allowed. This is stipulated, and the others are all case reviews, just because of people.
