About the author of The Life of Animals
Coetzee, a famous contemporary novelist. Born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1940, he is a descendant of Dutch immigrants. He has taught at the University of Cape Town in South Africa and the University of Chicago in the United States. His major works include "Waiting for the Barbarians" (1980), "The Life and Times of Michael K" (1997), "Shame" (1999), "Youth" (2002), etc. His novels have won various literary awards including the Booker Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature (2003).
