How many people immigrate from Shanghai every year?

According to Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, May 20th, Cao Guoxing, director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education, said on the 20th that since the reform and opening up of 1978, there have been 700,000 people studying abroad in China, and this number is still growing.

Cao Guoxing revealed this information when he delivered a speech at the "Exchange Meeting of China Overseas Students and International Science and Technology Projects at the 7th Beijing International Science and Technology Industry Expo". He said that among the 700,000 overseas students, 1.7 million have returned to work, 350,000 are still engaged in study, cooperative research, academic visits and other activities abroad, and some overseas students have been employed overseas.

Cao Guoxing said that it has always been one of the key tasks of the Ministry of Education to train high-level overseas students and attract them to return to China to serve. By the end of 2003, among the universities directly under the Ministry of Education, 77% of the presidents and 80% of the academicians of the two academies have studied abroad, and 62% of the doctoral supervisors and 765,438+0% of the directors of state key laboratories and teaching and research bases have also studied abroad.

In order to encourage overseas students to return to China to work or serve the country in various forms, the Ministry of Education has successively set up projects such as "Research Start-up Fund for Overseas Students", "Cross-century Talent Plan" and "Spring Festival Plan". In recent years, only one project of "Chunhui Plan" has benefited more than 8,000 outstanding overseas students.
