Why is Germany willing to accept refugees?

Germany accepts refugees out of both humanitarian obligations and a series of practical considerations.

First, change the xenophobic image of Germany formed by right-wingers burning refugee camps some time ago and reverse the tough and cold-blooded impression left by dealing with the Greek crisis.

Second, atone for the history of World War II, shoulder the responsibility of supporting the consequences of Western intervention in other countries, alleviate the problems of aging population and labor shortage, and lead Europe to occupy the moral high ground by setting an example.

However, these are not the most important reasons. The most important reason is that the German government has such strength (abundant financial resources, historical experience in dealing with large-scale immigration, and institutionalized refugee resettlement system), and domestic public opinion supports the government to do so. Many of these factors are not available in other EU countries, so their enthusiasm is not as high as that of Germany.
