Where is Liangshan in Sichuan?

Liangshan County, Sichuan Province, now called Liangping District of Chongqing, is located in the northeast of Chongqing, 90km west of Wanzhou Port, and 180km away from the main city of Chongqing. It is a land fortress connecting the main city of Chongqing and the Three Gorges reservoir area.

Liangshan Airport was built in Liangshan County, Sichuan Province in the 1920s. Liangshan Airport is in the middle of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, guarding Chongqing as the capital. It has made outstanding achievements and won a great reputation.

Liangshan County, Sichuan Province was founded in the second year of Qin Yuan in the Western Wei Dynasty (AD 553), and went through the Sui, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties until 1952. During this period, it was called Liangshan County 1500 years, which was the earliest and longest-used county-level administrative division in the history of China.

In the historical records of ancient Chinese documents, all references to "Liangshan County" refer to Liangshan County in Sichuan Province.

Up to now, the central city of Liangping District in Chongqing is still called "Liangshan Town". In 2009, Liangshan Town was upgraded to Liangshan Sub-district Office.
