Can my wife, who is from Myanmar, settle in China?

If you can provide proof of settlement in China, you can apply to the local city or county public security bureau to apply for Chinese nationality. If you have a Myanmar passport, apply as a Myanmar citizen. If you do not have a Myanmar passport, apply as a stateless person. Instructions for applying for Chinese nationality:

1. Application conditions

Foreigners or stateless persons who are willing to abide by the Chinese Constitution and laws and meet one of the following conditions can apply for approval Naturalization of Chinese nationality:

(1) Close relatives of Chinese;

(2) Those who have settled in China;

(3) Those with other legitimate reasons .

2. Acceptance and Approval Agencies

The agencies that accept nationality applications are the local city and county public security bureaus in China, and the Chinese diplomatic representative agencies and consular agencies abroad. Applications for naturalization of Chinese nationality are reviewed and approved by the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China and the People's Republic of China.

3. Application Procedures

(1) Fill in the "Application Form for Nationality of the People's Republic of China";

(2) Submit the request to join the Chinese People's Republic of China Written application for nationality;

(3) Submit corresponding certificates:

(1) Copy of foreign passport;

(2) Copy of foreigner’s permanent residence permit

(3) If both or one of the parents is a child born to Chinese citizens, relevant certificates proving that he or she had foreign nationality at birth must be provided.

(4) Other materials that the accepting authority considers relevant to the application for nationality.

IV. Other Matters

After being approved for Chinese nationality, foreign nationality may no longer be retained. Entry and exit procedures shall be handled in accordance with relevant regulations for Chinese citizens.
