Richer than France, bigger than Britain and more livable than Australia, why is New Zealand's sense of existence so low?

There are not many places of entertainment, amusement parks and KTV. Activities include barbecue, mountain climbing, skiing or catching crabs at the seaside. The biggest living expense is rent. But big cities like Auckland and Wellington will be more lively, but the nightlife is not as good as that in China. But the CBD in big cities looks similar, almost everything can be bought, and there are many Chinese restaurants and supermarkets. The rent in big cities is more expensive. The average rent is about NZD $0/50 per week.

A tourist city like Queenstown is not suitable for living. There are many tourists, and many friends of immigrants say that they didn't like living there before because it was too noisy.

I think maybe this is why it is richer than France, bigger than Britain and more livable than Australia, but its sense of existence is so low.
