What do English abbreviations often used by overseas study service consultants mean?
These study abroad terms run through all stages of our application. I don't know if we can't move a step ~ Here is a jargon that is often used when applying for studying abroad to test whether you are a bronze or a king!
1. The general IELTS /UKVI IELTS test is divided into three categories:
1, general IELTS test
2. The IELTS test for British visas and immigrants (UKVI).
3. Elegant thinking life skills Generally, we study abroad.
For example, to apply for universities in Australia and New Zealand, you can choose the general IELTS test. It should be noted that both ordinary IELTS and UKVI IELTS can apply for regular courses in the UK, but ordinary IELTS cannot apply for English language classes/preparatory courses. In other words, if a student takes the general IELTS first, but his score does not meet the requirements of the school offer, he needs to take the UKVI IELTS again if he wants to go to a language class. In addition, from the difficulty of the exam, UKVI IELTS is the same as ordinary IELTS (the exam fee is 50 yuan), so for those who apply for studying in the UK, I suggest you take UKVI IELTS ~
2.FT/PT
This is actually two forms of modification.
FT refers to full-time, that is, full-time; PT refers to Part time. Under normal circumstances, the contents of the two courses are exactly the same, but it takes PT students longer to get the credits needed for graduation. For example, FT takes one year to complete, while PT can generally study for two years.
However, PT is generally applied by local on-the-job workers, because the PT program cannot apply for a student visa, which means that PT applicants need to have local long-term residence qualifications.
Therefore, when applying, most of our applicants are FT projects, but since only a few majors open PT applications, we must pay attention when choosing majors.
3.MA/MSc
Both are degree abbreviations, MA= Master of Arts and MSc= Master of Science. MSc is usually a master's degree in science, technology and other disciplines, while MA is usually a master's degree in art, humanities and other related disciplines, and its tuition is generally cheaper than MSc.
Similar abbreviations include:
Meng = Master of Engineering,
Master of Engineering LLM= Master of Law,
Master of Laws MBA = Master of Business Administration,
Master of business administration MEd= master of education,
Master of Education MSW= Master of Social Work,
Master of Social Work MPa = Master of Public Administration,
Master of Management, MPH= Master of Public Health,
Master of Health MFA= Master of Fine Arts,
Master of arts, master of philosophy,
master of philosophy
In addition, official website's postgraduate diploma and postgraduate certificate start with majors, and foreign universities are actually just advanced diploma courses, and there is no master's degree, so they are generally not the applicants.
4.PSPS
Personal statement is mainly used to describe personal background, application purpose, research direction and other information.
To apply for studying in the UK, many British universities do not need to interview applicants. PS is their first impression of you, and PS school will judge whether you are suitable, so the importance of PS in studying in the UK is self-evident.
When applying for an Australian university, many majors do not need to submit PS, but some Australian institutions, such as the University of Melbourne, will use PS as a necessary material for the application.
5.CO/UOCO
It means conditional admission, commonly known as Con offer, which means conditional admission.
If everyone's basic conditions (education, work experience, etc. ) has reached the university admission requirements, but the personal application materials have not been submitted. For example, if the IELTS score, diploma and average score are not enough, the school can give conditional admission first. After the applicant submits the remaining supplementary materials and meets the application requirements, the school will give formal unconditional admission.
UO refers to unconditional acceptance, which is the unconditional acceptance mentioned above. With this, it means that the applicant has met all the requirements of the school and has been officially accepted by the school. So after receiving the quotation, everyone should see clearly what kind of quotation it is.
6. Booking fee
The deposit is also called deposit and occupation fee. Many colleges and universities will require the accepted applicants to pay a certain reservation fee within a specified time as a confirmation of admission and reservation of admission places.
If the applicant reports as scheduled, the reservation fee paid before will be used to offset the tuition fee. If the applicant fails to report, the appointment fee will not be refunded.
The reason why the school does this is to avoid the situation that too many students take the offer and refuse to go. By charging an "appointment fee", on the one hand, the school can know whether students can come to study, on the other hand, it can also protect their rights and interests, and then make reasonable arrangements for admission to ensure the source of students in case students suddenly regret not going.
7. CASCAS refers to the confirmation letter of acceptance of study, that is, the electronic admission notice, which is a confirmation letter issued by the university to the students after they accept the offer from the British university and pay the reservation fee or tuition fee to the school.
In other words, Offer is the school's letter of intent for admission, and CAS is the admission confirmation. Getting unconditional admission does not mean everything. If you decide to enroll, you must give feedback to the school as soon as possible and let the school send you CAS. Receiving CAS means you can enter school!
8.CoE Australia also has something similar to CAS, that is, CoE (Confirmation of Admission), that is, Australian admission confirmation. Students meet all the admission requirements of the school, get the admission notice from the school, and then confirm to accept the offer and pay a certain tuition fee within the specified time. After confirmation, the school will issue CoE to the students, which is an essential and important document when applying for an Australian visa.
