The horse dance is a traditional dance introduced to Johor by Javanese immigrants in Malaysia. The performance vividly represents the triumphal scene of Islamic jihad, with dancers riding prop horses and dancing to the beat of percussion instruments (usually including drums, gongs and bamboo harps). The jousting dance is performed by nine dancers astride a leather horse.
