Where is Cixi Village located?

Cixi Village is also known as Xuxi and Huxi. It is located in the south of Yanling Mountain and on the bank of Qiandao Lake. The villager's main surname is Hu, and his ancestral home is Anding County.

It is said that there are eighteen surnames in this village, and the surname Hu is the most common. The creek in front of the village is called "Hu Creek". In the Ming Dynasty, Hu Gongchen served as the Minister of the Ministry of Industry in Nanjing. He was an honest official and benefited the people like a son. In commemoration, "Huxi" was changed to "Cixi".

According to the Genealogy of the Anding Hu Family, the fourth generation of Duke Wen Gao, the founder of Zitong, moved from Hujiacun to Xuxi (today's Cixi) and was the ancestor of the Hu family in Cixi. It can be seen that Cixi Village has a history of more than 800 years.

Cixi is a village behind the immigrants. The original Cixi Village was a large village in Zitongyuan with numerous talents. After the Xinan River Reservoir was filled with water in 1959, the original Cixi Village was submerged into the water. Some of the villagers moved to Suichang, some to Jiangxi, and some of them built the new Cixi Village.

Cixi Village was once the seat of Waitong Commune and Waitong Township Government. It is also the center of politics, economy and culture in the outer half of Zitongyuan.

Near Cixi Village there are Qiandao Lake, Qiandao Lake Forest Oxygen Bar, Fairy Valley Rafting, Xiajiang Village Scenic Area, Qinchuan Ancient Village and other tourist attractions. There are Qiandao Jade Leaf, Qiandao Lake Fish, Turtle, Jiukeng Maojian, Chun Andong sauce and other specialties.
