The Historical Origin of Palestine and Israel
Historically, the Palestinian area has been the center of many cultures and religions, including Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Around the 20th century BC, Sumerian Canaanites settled here.
At the end of 13 BC, the Hebrews (ancestors of modern Jews) began to migrate from Egypt to Palestine, lived for thousands of years, and established the United Kingdom of Israel.
BC 1 century, the Roman Empire invaded Jerusalem, and the Jews broke out in a large-scale uprising, which was brutally suppressed by the Roman army. In 70 AD, Jews were driven out of Palestine by the Romans and scattered all over the world.
In 622 AD, the Arabs defeated the Roman Empire, took over Palestine and became a part of the Arab Empire. With the continuous migration of Arabs and assimilation with local aborigines, modern Palestinian Arabs have gradually formed.
19 At the end of the 20th century, Jews began to emigrate to Palestine, believing that it was the land of their ancestors and that a new Jewish state should be established. However, Palestinian Arabs have also settled on the land in this area, which they consider as their ancestral land.
1948 On May 4th, Israel declared its founding. The next day,1May 5, 948, five Arab countries declared war on Israel, and the first Middle East war broke out. The war has caused a large number of Palestinians to be displaced and become refugees.
Since then, there have been territorial disputes and conflicts between Israel and Palestine. At present, Israel controls most of the Palestinian territory and resources.
Causes of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict
From 65438 to 0947, the United Nations adopted a resolution on the partition of Palestine, which divided Palestine into two countries: Jews and Arabs. But the Arab countries did not accept this resolution, which led to the war between Israel and Arab countries. After the war, Israel occupied more territory and the Palestinian territory was compressed.
Judaism, Christianity and Islam all regard Jerusalem as a holy land and become the focus of contention. Israel regards Jerusalem as its capital and Palestine regards Jerusalem as the capital of the future country. This dispute led to differences on territorial issues between the two sides, which further aggravated the tension in the conflict.
In the middle of the 20th century, Israel established diplomatic relations with neighboring Arab countries, and Egypt, Jordan and Israel signed a peace treaty. However, part of the territories of these countries were occupied by Israel, which triggered Palestinian dissatisfaction and protest.
