Night thoughts in Zuogong Temple

Going out for a walk at night, I found that the gate of People's Park, which was being repaired some time ago, had been demolished, revealing a clearing. After walking more than 20 meters, I found that the road ahead was blocked, so I turned around and walked back. I vaguely saw a building with a light on the right, so I walked along the forest path.

That building is Zuogong Temple, which used to be an open space. I don't know why we should build a Zuogong Temple. I haven't been there when it was built, and neither have I. This is my first time. At the entrance of Zuogong Temple, there was a man standing at the door. When he saw that I wanted to go in, he shook his hand at me, meaning he wouldn't let me in. I had to turn around and leave. I turned around and found a big screen wall opposite the door, 20 meters long and 3 meters high. There are two lines of big characters written on it, followed by some small characters. It's already dark, so I just read the big characters. It turned out to be a poem: "The general has not returned to the border, and the children of Huxiang are all over the Tianshan Mountains. Newly planted willows are three thousand miles away, attracting spring breeze. "

This poem is about Zuo Ping's deeds of pacifying Xinjiang. I have been lucky enough to read some books about him, so I know a little about Zuo's story. Not to mention his deeds of pacifying the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and the Nian Army Uprising. It is recorded in history books, but the achievement of pacifying the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom mainly fell on Zeng Guofan, so that Zeng Guofan was praised as a semi-saint, while Zuo and Zuo were drowned instead. Later, Zuo Ping decided the rebellion in Shaanxi, but for various reasons, this story was also hidden. The history books only recorded the story of his quelling the rebellion in Xinjiang and recovering Ili.

In fact, the merits and demerits are judged by future generations. Who can understand the hardships at that time? Hami is the first stop for Liu Jintang troops to enter Xinjiang. In Xiheba, Taojiagong and other places here, the Xiang Army of Liu Jintang planted many willows, which was called "Zuo Gong Liu" in history. These willows are still alive, and some have been broken by several people. This time, the willow tree came from Hunan, grew up in this land of Xinjiang, and eventually became a witness of history.

There used to be a Zuogong Temple in Xiheba, but it was demolished for various reasons and now it has been rebuilt. The achievements of historical figures will not be forgotten.

My parents also immigrated to Xinjiang. In the 1960s and 1970s, for some reasons, they came to Xinjiang and settled in Hami. I was born here, grew up here, and this has become my hometown. Zuo Gong Temple, which was lost when I was a child, has now been rebuilt. Now standing in front of the screen, I suddenly feel a little sigh. Some great men can always stand at the forefront and meet the great changes in history on their own. They can clearly foresee the future and be prepared. This is probably the greatness of these great historical figures.
