Related issues regarding German visa (visiting scholar) application

The general process for a visa abroad is: Determine the visa category → Prepare the required application materials → Submit the visa application materials to the foreign consulate in China → Wait → Go to the consulate to get the visa.

The key is to prepare the required application materials. Different countries and different visa categories vary greatly.

The following is an example of a Chinese citizen applying for a tourist visa in Singapore:

The applicant’s original passport and a copy - it should be valid for more than six months and have at least one blank visa page.

IMM Form 14A - A completed application form in English. Application forms can be downloaded online.

Photo - A color photo with white background and suede of the same size as the passport is affixed to the IMM 14A form.

Photographs should meet the following requirements:

Recent photos taken within three months

Front-viewing without headgear (such as wearing a hat or accessories according to special religious or customary requirements, a hat or accessories must not cover the applicant’s facial features)

Face size is 25mm wide and 35mm high, photo size is 35mm wide and 45mm high

ID card - original and copy One copy each.

Proof of employment - Applicants who are current employees must provide an original letter of proof of employment issued by the company where they work. The certification letter must state that the company agrees to the leave, and specify the applicant’s time of employment, position and salary in the company in detail. The employment verification letter must list the company's address, telephone and fax numbers, and should provide contact information for relevant contacts.

Household Registration Book - The applicant’s household registration book (full original and copy). If it is a collective household registration, you can apply for a household registration certificate at the police station and provide the original and copy.

Proof of personal financial status - If the applicant does not have a job, he or she must provide documents that can prove his or her personal financial status, such as bank deposit certificates, etc. There is no specific requirement for the amount of the bank deposit certificate, but the bank issuance date must be within 2 weeks of the visa application submission date. This certificate should truthfully reflect your financial ability.

Except for the following circumstances, tourist visa applicants must submit the application in person at the consulate:

If the applicant is under 16 years old, his or her parents can apply on his or her behalf, but they must issue a document proving their relationship. Birth certificate or household register and parents’ ID cards (original and copy);

If the applicant is retired, he or she can entrust others to handle the application, but the original, copy and power of attorney of his/her retirement certificate are required (note Please indicate the name and ID number of the person being entrusted). The entrusted person must bring the original ID card and submit a copy;

If the applicant can provide a Singapore citizen or Singapore permanent resident in China as his guarantor. The guarantor (must be over 21 years old) must correctly fill in the V39A form (letter of introduction) and clearly indicate his/her pink/blue Singapore ID card number, address and phone number.

The Singaporean guarantor in China must submit the form in person to the consulate, and provide the completed V39A form and an original and a copy of the personal data page of the Singapore ID card or passport.

Not all applicants for a tourist visa are required to pay a deposit. Only applicants who receive notification from the Consulate General of Singapore are required to pay a security deposit. The Consulate General will inform you of the method of deposit delivery and refund when making the request

Important Notes

Unfilled forms, incomplete materials or non-compliance with requirements may result in visa rejection or Postponement of acceptance.

Whether the visa application is approved and the validity period of the approval are determined by the visa officer based on the individual circumstances of the applicant.

Applicants should purchase air tickets after visa approval. The Embassy is not responsible for any financial losses caused by not approving the visa due to purchasing air tickets in advance.

The issuance date of a visa is generally the date of visa application. Once the visa is issued, its validity period will not be changed. Applicants should not submit application materials prematurely. If the visa has expired, the applicant must resubmit the application materials. Applicants should carefully check the issuance date and visa validity period when collecting their visa. Applicants are recommended to submit their application one to two weeks before leaving the country.

Visa holders may not necessarily be able to enter Singapore. Visa holders must meet entry requirements before being allowed entry, such as a valid passport, sufficient funds and a round-trip air ticket. Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officials have the right to decide whether they are allowed to enter.

Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officials determine the length of stay of visa holders when they enter the country. Applicants should pay attention to the entry stamp in their passport and the approved period of stay.
