The development of Hecheng
Not long after He Qi's establishment of the county and city began to take shape, thousands of people gathered due to the rebellion of Minlang Zhi in Yuhang. In the 16th year of Jian'an (AD 211), Qi was immediately ordered to go on an expedition. The task of continuing to build the county town fell on the later officials. According to the "Guangxu Chun'an County Annals" of the Qing Dynasty: Since the establishment of Xindu County in the 13th year of Jian'an, it has gone through the Jin, Southern Dynasties, Song Dynasty, Qi, Liang and Chen, and in the first year of Shengong after Empress Wu of the Tang Dynasty (AD 697), the county seat was moved to Jiande Meicheng. The city was the seat of a county for 489 years. The name of the county changed four times, namely Xindu County during the Three Kingdoms period. It was changed to Xin'an County in the first year of Taikang in the Jin Dynasty, to Muzhou County in the third year of Renshou in the Sui Dynasty, and to Sui'an County in the first year of Daye in the Sui Dynasty. In the fourth year of Tang Wude's reign, it was restored to Muzhou County. During these 480 years, He Qi's successors all contributed greatly to the renewal of the county and city, embellishing Xin'an's landscape and nurturing Xin'an culture. However, there were no county chronicles before the Tang Dynasty, and the Provincial Illustrations were not fully recorded. Only the "Jiajing Chun'an County Chronicle" records only three people, Shao Tan, Hong Zuan, and Chen Mingfu of the Tang Dynasty, and they have no deeds. It can only be discovered from "official unofficial history" and folklore. For example: According to folklore, He Qi died fighting fires for the people. On his deathbed, he gave instructions to his successors: first, they must do a good job in water conservancy and develop rice farming; second, they must use local materials and convert the stilted houses into houses with mud walls and stone tiles; third, they must educate the common people and learn etiquette. Follow the rules; fourth, we must spare no effort to continue building the county. That's why Shao Tan later led the Nine Sons to fight the flood and build a dam on the river. The Nine Sons were swept away by the flood, and Shao Tan also died of fatigue. The Jade Emperor named him the Wulong King. Shao Tan created the idea of ??using the gap between the Xin'an River and the river to divert water to irrigate the fields on both sides of the river, benefiting the neighboring county of Fuchun, so there is also the Wulong King Temple in Meicheng. Some unofficial histories say that Hong Zhuan, the governor of the Western Jin Dynasty, was born in Danyang and was the son of Shangshu Hong Shao. He served as an official in Beijing for many years and later served as the governor of Xin'an. , staying in the west corner. Even Prince Zhaoming of the Jin Dynasty lived in seclusion at Hushiyan, and Qi Qiu, the prime minister of the Southern Dynasty and Song Dynasty, built a stone room in Zhuan Mountain to study. During Liang Tian's prison period, the county governor Ren was from Shouguang, Shandong Province, and was responsible for managing the mountains and rivers. The famous scholar Shen Yue once wrote a poem about Xin'an's landscape: "The depth of a hole depends on the depth, and there is no winter or spring in a dragon's mirror. Thousands of feet of water pour down trees, and hundreds of feet can see floating scales..." When he was old, he settled in Wulong Bridge and built a pavilion to commemorate Xu You. , to show nobility.
In the heyday of Zhenguan and Kaiyuan in the Tang Dynasty, the construction of Hecheng became even more magnificent. "The clear stream clears my heart, and the color of the water is different from other waters. I want to ask the Xin'an River, how is it like this? People walk in the mirror, in the Wudu screen..." This is a portrayal of praising Xin'an's landscape.
The Song Dynasty was a turning point since the founding of Hecheng. First, the county seat was moved to Meicheng, and Pheasant County was moved from Lujiabu in the west to Hecheng; second, after the Fangla Uprising, the ruling class felt that humanistic education was more important. In order to strengthen governance, the county name was changed four times; Huan Chun , Qingxi, Chunhua and Chun'an require simplicity and tranquility. The emperor respected Confucius and respected Confucianism, and sent knowledgeable people to serve as herdsmen and cultivate talents. According to incomplete records in Jiajing County Chronicles, 9 of the 26 magistrates of Chun'an County in the Song Dynasty built and renovated Confucian temples, Confucian schools and academies. In the third year of Daoism, the county magistrate Sun Bor immediately built a Confucian temple as soon as he took office, and more and more people came to visit it. In the fifth year of Chunxi, Chen Ye, the county magistrate, rebuilt the Confucius Temple, expanded the Dacheng Hall, sculpted statues of saints, built lecture halls, built sutra pavilions, built the South Gate Floating Bridge, and hired famous Confucians to give lectures. During the Xianchun period, the county magistrate Zeng Ziliang and others continued to build the Confucius Temple and added more than 200 acres of school land. So far, "the kitchen smoke is lingering, the academy is reciting loudly, and the virtues are cultivated, and no town can follow it." After more than 200 years of attaching importance to education and cultivating talents, the two Song Dynasties , 144 people passed the Jinshi examination in Chun'an. Among them, Jiading of Ning Zong and Xianchun of Chundu Zong of Lizong had 5 to 7 Jinshi in each Chun'an examination. The highest number was 13 Jinshi in the 4th year of Xianchun. Among them, "Three Number One Scholars in a Hundred Miles" made Chun'an "Wang County in Two Zhejiang Provinces and the first city of Yanling."
At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, Hecheng was destroyed by war. It was rebuilt during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty.
In the 37th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1559 AD), Hai Rui, the magistrate of Chun'an County, built 6 gates for the ancient city, namely: Chengcheng Gate, Zhende Gate, Huanchun Gate, Huancui Gate, Xiaoyi Gate and Gong'an Gate. And built towers to strengthen Liaowang.
According to the "Chun'an County Chronicle" recorded by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, Hecheng "is bounded by Haoshang in the east, facing the valley in the west, pillowed by the Xin'an River in the south, and connected to Gangfu in the north."
But in 1953, On the map of Hecheng, the walls of Hecheng are no longer visible.
In October 1955, the then Ministry of Electric Power Industry selected Tongguan at the junction of Chun'an and Jiande to build the Xin'an River Hydropower Station. On April 30, 1959, 290,000 people from the two counties emigrated. On September 21, the Xinan River was closed and water storage began in the reservoir area.
Hecheng (ancient Chun'an City) and Shicheng (ancient Sui'an City), together with 27 towns, more than 1,000 villages, 300,000 acres of fertile land and thousands of private houses, quietly sank to the bottom of the lake.
In 2002, during the survey of the ancient city of Chun'an, it was found that since the Lion City is more than 20 meters deep under the water of Qiandao Lake and has a high city wall, it is easy to discover and find. CCTV conducted a live underwater broadcast of the survey of Lion City, another submerged ancient city in Chun'an. Hecheng is forty to fifty meters deep underwater. It is said that the water flow here is also more complicated, which makes underwater exploration more difficult.
