The "Hualong One" nuclear power technology used in the project has a design life of 60 years. It innovatively adopts technologies such as active and passive safety systems and double-layer containment to meet the highest international safety standards in terms of safety.

After all six units of the San'ao Nuclear Power Project are completed, the annual power generation will reach 52.5 billion kilowatt hours, which will reduce the consumption of standard coal by 15.88 million tons and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 43.68 million tons, which is equivalent to 118,000 afforestation. hectares, will provide a steady stream of clean energy for the sustainable development of the Yangtze River Delta region.

Project development:

On August 5-6, 2020, the East China Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision Station of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment organized an inspection team to conduct inspections of Sanao Nuclear Power Unit 1. Conducted negative excavation trench inspection of the nuclear island foundation pit.

On September 2, 2020, the State Council executive meeting approved the first phase of Zhejiang Sanao Nuclear Power Project.

On December 31, 2020, the first phase of Zhejiang Sanao Nuclear Power Project started.

On December 30, 2021, the main construction of Unit 2 of China General Nuclear Power Group’s Zhejiang Sanao Nuclear Power Project officially started.

On September 2, 2022, Unit 2 of CGN’s Zhejiang San’ao Nuclear Power Project completed the concrete pouring of the turbine raft foundation, marking the start of the main project of the conventional island of the unit.
