Analysis of visa on arrival, renewal and return visa for studying in Ireland
1. Visa on arrival
In fact, it is not called a visa in principle. Therefore, there will not be a corresponding visa sticker left on the passport, but just a black stamp with the date and month that the stay is allowed.
Applying for a visa on arrival for the first time may be slow. However, these are the main materials required. The following materials are subject to those provided by the Dublin Immigration Bureau GNIB. When registering at some small and remote police stations, the corresponding requirements may be lower. For example, it is said that there is no need to check attendance when registering in Dundalk. But I still made the list according to the requirements listed on GNIB. Just in case.
The first thing is your passport. The passport must be valid for at least 1 year. Although in principle it is half a year, but if it is less than one year, they will only give you the time until the corresponding passport becomes invalid. For example, if your passport expires in 11 months, then they will only sign you for 11 months and require you to pay a registration fee of 150 euros. After your passport expires and is renewed, you need to pay another 150 euros to re-register for the remaining 1 month.
Also remember to bring your Bankstatement. If it is a newly opened card, remember to deposit more than 1,000 euros (someone said 1,500 euros?), but it is recommended that you deposit more than 2,000 euros... otherwise it will not be enough for one semester. If it is not a newly opened card, transaction records for the last 3 months are required.
Next is LetterforGNIB held by the school. You need to write down your student name, address (same as bank statement!), major you are studying, year, weekly course time (Fulltime cannot be less than 15 hours), and prove that your tuition, medical insurance and other expenses for this year have been paid. Delivery completed. This letter will be collected during registration.
The next step is your Attendance. Of course, you don't need this if you are in your first year. It is said that in some small places, the police do not check this when registering, but I will write it here just to be on the safe side. In fact, when applying in Dublin, the inspection was very loose. As long as it was a school that the visa officer had heard of, they would not inspect it. But if it is some language school or the like, it will be checked. In principle, 85% attendance is required. If it is less than 85% but more than 80%, you may only be granted a visa for 3 months and be required to pay the application fee again after 3 months with an attendance record of more than 85%. If it is less than 80%, the visa may be refused.
In the end, it’s all about money. The registration fee is 150 euros per year. You can pay with the bank card you applied for, a credit card brought from China, or bankgiro. However, I strongly do not recommend bankgiro. After all, it is slow and you have to go to the bank yourself. Although I prefer to carry a few blank bankgiro ticket books with me, after passing, you will be given a GNIBcard and a black stamp "Stamp2" in your passport.
2. Renewal
The Irish government requires students to go to the police station to renew their visa every year. Not to mention the annual registration fee of 150 euros, it will also delay everyone's queuing time for a whole day. It seems that apart from the magical country of Ireland, there is no other country that requires students to travel once a year.
The application fee for renewal is still 150 euros. The payment method is also debitcard, creditcard or bankgiro.
Bankstatement requires at least 3 months of transaction records and a balance of 1,000 or 1,500 euros.
It should be noted that the letter that needs to be issued by the school for renewal is not Letter for Visa Renewal, but Letter for GNIB. You must pay attention to this, the requirements are the same as above.
It is still necessary to bring your passport. In addition, you must bring your GNIB card from last year.
After the renewal is successful, the original GNIB card will be taken back, replaced with a new one, and stamped with Stamp2.
3. Return visa
Let’s continue with the Irish government’s measures, which stipulate that if you want to leave the country during your stay in Ireland, you must apply for a return visa. In this way, for the vast majority of students who want to return to their home country or travel to other countries, they have to go to the immigration office twice more every year and wait in line for two more days than international students from other countries.
Round trip visas are divided into singlere-entry and multiplere-entry. The former is valid for three months from the date of issuance and the amount is 60 euros. The latter is valid until the first expiration date between your GNIB card and your passport, which is generally one year. The former is more suitable for people who travel abroad for a few days during winter vacation or summer vacation and then come back, and they only go abroad once a year. The latter is suitable for children who want to return to China during the summer vacation.
The required materials are as follows:
Attendance is required here.
In principle, an attendance rate of 85% is still required. However, someone signed with an 80% attendance rate.
Passport and GNIB card.
One two-inch registration photo, 35mm*45mm. The requirement simply means that the head must occupy at least 90% of the space. The size and proportion of the two-inch registration photo for domestic passport photos generally do not meet the requirements. In principle, recent photos taken within 6 months are required. But when I went there, I took a photo taken a year and a half ago and it worked.
If you apply for the first time, you need a LetterForMultiple/SingleRe-EntryVisa.
If this is not the first time you apply, you need to bring a Letter for Visa Renewal. The paper will be collected and kept. All letter requirements are the same, name, course, year, tuition fee certificate, etc...
In addition, the round-trip visa does not accept cash or debit card payment, and must be paid before going. The method is to go to any bank or post office and open a BankDraft or Postalmoney order with the corresponding amount, and the payee is Department of Justice and Law Reform. Please note that the payee this year is different from before. Don’t make a mistake. If you make a mistake, it cannot be corrected.
You also need a document proving your address. There is usually a letter from the school. If not, you can bring a bank statement yourself. After success, a round-trip visa sticker will be affixed to your passport.
