What are TOEFL, SAT, IELTS and CET-4 and CET-6?

IELTS and TOEFL are English language tests for studying abroad or immigrating.

IELTS, referred to as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), is one of the famous international English standardized proficiency tests, which is generally applicable to Commonwealth countries (such as Canada and Australia).

TOEFL is an English proficiency test organized by educational testing service (ETS). Its full name is "English proficiency test for non-native English speakers" and its Chinese transliteration is "TOEFL", which is generally applicable to North American countries.

IELTS and TOEFL are divided into four parts: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The difference is that IELTS speaking is a face-to-face test and TOEFL is a computer test. Of course, there are different types of questions and total scores. IELTS scored 9 points in all four subjects, and the average score in the final grade area (mantissa above 0.25 is 0.5, and below 0.25 is rounded off); 30 points in all four TOEFL subjects, and the final score is the total score. Second, SAT and ACT

1.SAT is an examination sponsored by the American College Board, and it is an important reference for high school students all over the world to apply for admission qualifications and scholarships in American universities. It and ACT are both called American College Entrance Examination.

The total score of the new SAT is *** 1600, which is divided into three parts: reading, grammar and mathematics, and writing is changed to optional test. ETS undertakes its proposition and grading work. But they are only one of the reference materials when enrolling students, and they are not completely decisive factors. Their grades are valid for two years.

2.ACT, the full name of which is "American College Test", is called "American College Entrance Examination" in Chinese. It is one of the requirements for undergraduate admission in the United States, and it is also one of the important bases for the issuance of scholarships. It is sponsored by ACT company.

The ACT test consists of English, mathematics, reading, science and composition (optional test). ACT is the only college entrance examination in the United States that includes science subjects. Each ACT question has gone through 12 step of research and development and proposition process, which ensures the accuracy and reliability of the measurement.

Band three, four and six exams

CET-4 and CET-6 are national English tests administered by the Ministry of Education. Its purpose is to objectively and accurately measure the actual English ability of college students and provide evaluation for college English teaching.

CET-4 and CET-6 are national teaching examinations, which are organized and implemented by the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). They are held twice a year in the morning and afternoon on the same day. From June 5438+ 10, 2005, with a full mark of 7 10, the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC) entrusted the National College English Testing Committee to issue transcripts to each candidate.

Generally speaking, IELTS and TOEFL are English tests required for studying abroad and immigration, SAT and ACT are required for applying to American universities, while CET-4 and CET-6 are English tests for domestic college students (generally applicable to the workplace after graduation).
