Guangxi culture and art

1 1 The ethnic minorities living in Guangxi have their own languages, namely Zhuang, Jing, Yao, Miao, Dong, Mulao, Maonan, Jing, Yi, Shui and gelao language. With the use of water language, the population of Gelao language is decreasing and it has become an endangered language. There are six kinds of Chinese dialects: Cantonese, Southwest Mandarin (Guiliu Mandarin), Hakka dialect, Pinghua, Hunan dialect and Fujian dialect.

Guangzhou people

Cantonese (known locally as Guangxi dialect) is mainly distributed in the southeast of Guangxi, that is, from Hezhou to Pingxiang, accounting for one third of Guangxi, with a population of150,000, accounting for more than 55% of the Han population in Guangxi. There are not many Cantonese speakers in the northwest of the line, and the distribution is scattered. There are also dialect islands such as Baise City. Guangxi Cantonese is divided into Wuzhou Cantonese, Yongxun Cantonese, Goulou Cantonese and Qinlian Cantonese.

There are more than 30 Cantonese-speaking counties and cities in China, namely Nanning, Yongning, Hengxian, Guigang, Guiping, Pingnan, tengxian, Wuzhou, Yulin, Beiliu, Rongxian, Bobai, Luchuan, Fangchenggang, Dongxing, Qinzhou, Hepu, Pubei, Lingshan, Beihai, Cangwu, Cenxi, Zhaoping and Cangwu. In addition, other cities in Guangxi that do not speak Cantonese also have Cantonese population distribution, usually along the river streets. Due to the development of new Guangxi immigrants and the need of agricultural technology upgrading in the Republic of China, central Guangxi moved to southeast Guangxi, and many Cantonese villages appeared.

Zhuang language

Zhuang language is the national language of Zhuang nationality, which is widely distributed in western Guangxi and mainly divided into two parts: north and south. Users are not only Zhuang people, but also Han people and other ethnic minorities in rural areas where Zhuang people live in compact communities.

Guiliu Mandarin

Guiliu Mandarin is a kind of southwest mandarin, and its population accounts for more than 50% of the total population of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Mainly distributed in the county towns in northern Guangxi and other areas, popular in the Chinese-speaking areas in northern Guangxi. Guilin and Liuzhou are its two main cities, and they are the southwest mandarin that entered Guangxi in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Guiliu dialect, southwest mandarin, is the most powerful Chinese dialect in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region at present, and it is an important communication language among Zhuang, Han and all ethnic groups.

Hakka Chinese

Hakka dialect in Guangxi is also called Ya dialect (southern Guangxi), Xinmin dialect (Bobai, Yulin), Moge dialect (Liuzhou) and Changle dialect (Hezhou). It is the fourth largest local language (or dialect) in Guangxi after Cantonese, Zhuang language and Guiliu Mandarin, with about 6 million speakers (20 13).

Except for quanzhou county, xing an, Ziyuan County and Fengshan County of Hechi City, Guangxi is all Hakka, and Hakka dialect is used in Hakka distribution areas. The municipal districts, county-level cities and counties with more than 6,543,800 Hakkas are Babu District and Zhaoping County, Hezhou City, eastern Guangxi; Yulin City, Luchuan County, Bobai County and Beiliu City in the south of Guangxi; Guigang City, Guiping City and Pingnan County; Hepu County, Beihai City; Qinzhou City, Pubei County, lingchuan county; Fangchenggang City; Nanning City and Binyang County; Liuzhou City and Liucheng County; Xingbin District, Laibin City. Among them, Hezhou City (Babu District), Bobai County and Luchuan County of Yulin City are strong Hakka areas in Guangxi.

Pinghua is divided into Nanping dialect and Beiping dialect. It is mainly distributed in the suburbs of Yongning, Binyang, Hengxian, Guixian, Mashan, Ningming and Nanning in Guangxi, and some villages in Baise, Tianlin and leye county along the left and right rivers, as well as the suburbs of Guilin, Lingui, Lingchuan, Rongshui, Rongan, Luocheng, Yongfu, Liucheng, Liujiang, Longsheng, Zhongshan, Hexian and Guibei.

Mandarin is the official standard language based on Beijing Mandarin, not the mother tongue of Guangxi. After decades of popularization, the popularity of Putonghua in Guangxi has been greatly improved, and urban residents can basically use it for conversation. However, Mandarin spoken by Guangxi people has a strong accent, thus forming Nanpu, Liu Pu and other dialects with their own characteristics. Mandarin is the most powerful language in Guangxi at present.
