Zhangzhou immigrants Chaoshan

Many Chaoshan people migrated from Fujian and other places to Guangdong and other areas in the Song and Yuan Dynasties, so now the dialects in Chaoshan area are closely related to those in Fujian. Many people think that Chaoshan people speak like Jinjiang people in Quanzhou, which is normal, because many ancestors of Chaoshan people moved from Quanzhou and Jinjiang.

After the Ming Dynasty, Chaoshan area developed rapidly, with a large local population, and a large number of immigrants came to Chaoshan area. At that time, the Chaoshan area developed rapidly, and Fujian people kept going to Chaoshan, Taiwan Province Province and Hainan, so now people in these areas have some similarities. Although the language has changed a lot, some syllables are similar in pronunciation.

Chaoshan area and Quanzhou, Jinjiang and other areas, although there are certain cultural similarities, are independently developed and have their own unique forms. Chaoshan people feel that their culture is unique, and Minnan people also feel that their culture is unique. People in Chaoshan area have much closer ties with Guangdong area than people in Minnan area, and there are also great similarities in human geography. Many Chaoshan people feel that they are Cantonese and that Minnan people are not from the same place at all.

But the accents of people in these areas are really similar, which we can't deny. I think language has changed a lot in the process of evolution, but some things are of the same ancestry and will not change because of geographical restrictions. Many seemingly unrelated fields actually have some similarities in pronunciation.
