He was unyielding and "swore he would not return until China was restored", so he died of old age in a foreign country. Lu Xun admired him very much. Later, Lu Xun once went to Tokyo and got off the bus at Mito to pay homage to Zhu Shunshui's relics, which made him almost unable to pay.
