For example, Sun Chengzong in the Song Dynasty wrote "The Song of Taihu Lake in Baiyangdian", praising the beautiful scenery of Baiyangdian. Four famous ancient academies, namely, Fifty percent Academy, Zheng Xue Academy, Gexiang Bieshu Academy and Shushu Academy, were founded here, adding a lot of bookishness to it.

After the founding of New China, an independent literary school, Lotus School, was formed here, and many revolutionary literature of Baiyangdian was written, including Lotus Lake and Stormy Story.
