Why is it called Wangjing? Why didn't you scream before? I have lived here for almost 2 years. I remember that it was called Wangjing in 1995-96!

"Futong Street" originated from Huajiadi of Caoyun River, which used to be a "pepper field".

Wangjing District in past lives has a history of more than 1 years. Except for a small number of "Old Wangjing" who have lived here for generations, most of them are foreigners who have "immigrated" here. For the past of this land, "Old Wangjing" people will learn something from their parents, but for many foreigners, it is probably full of questions. We looked up the data and interviewed some old people in Wangjing to tell you about the origin of Wangjing place names.

ancient history

in the eastern Jin dynasty, the "Jiangtai" once set up a worship platform

The southern area of Wangjing Community originally belonged to the administrative village of Jianfang, west eight, Jiangtai Township. "Jiangtai" is named after the worship platform that once existed near the west railway station of Jiangtai Village.

This worship platform was built by Murong Jun, Emperor Jing Zhaodi of Qianyan in the Sixteen Countries of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Now this worship platform has long since disappeared, and Jiangtaiwa Village, where the worship platform is located, is now under the jurisdiction of Dongfeng Township instead of Jiangtaixiang due to the adjustment of administrative planning.

Vicissitudes

In Yuan Dynasty, "Futong" was a water transport river

Now there are two roads in Wangjing, one is called Futong East Street, and the other is called Futong West Street. The word "Futong" is strange, in fact, the word "Futong" is named after the "Futong River" that flowed here in Yuan and Ming Dynasties.

Futong River, also known as Bahe River, is the small canal on the south side of Siyuan Bridge in the southwest of Wangjing. However, in the Yuan Dynasty, this was not a small canal, but a grand canal for water transportation.

In p>1279, the Yuan Dynasty opened the Northern Grain Transport River, which was named Futong River and ended at Guangximen, now Xiba River.

In the middle of Futong River, seven dams, including Qiansi Dam, Changqing Dam, Guocun Dam, Xiyang Dam, Zhengcun Dam, Wangcun Dam and Shengou Dam, were built to transport water, hence the name of this river. It was not until the late Qing Dynasty that the Bahe River gradually lost its water transport capacity because of insufficient water resources and siltation and disrepair.

"Xibahe" and "Dongba" are also related to this river.

The other two place names in Chaoyang District are also named after the dam on the Futong River. Xibahe is located to the west of Changqing Dam, hence its name. And "Dongba" is actually the area around Zhengcunba.

recent history

"Milk Ovary" is a horse farm

There is a village called "Milk Ovary" in Cuigezhuang Township, north of Wangjing, and the bus terminal of No.944 and No.939 from Wangjing is located in "Milk Ovary".

The origin of the milk ovary is related to the fact that it used to be a horse farm. During the Liao and Jin Dynasties in Yuan Dynasty, Mongolians loved to drink mare's milk, so it was a place where horses were specially raised to produce milk for Mongolian nobles to drink. For a long time, it was also called "mare's milk ovary".

from the end of the Qing dynasty to the beginning of the Republic of China, the village developed into two villages, namely "Ma Naizi East Village" and "Ma Naizi West Village". In 1979, the place name here was changed to "Milk Ovary", but it was still divided into "Milk East Village" and "Milk West Village".

Laiguangying used to be the barracks of Zhenglan Banner.

Laiguangying Township was the barracks of Zhenglan Banner in Qing Dynasty, commonly known as "Blue Camp", and later became a village, it was called "Laiying" in homonym. In 198, the first one was "Laiguangying".

During the Ming, Qing and the Republic of China, Laiguangying was an important garrison of the governments of various dynasties, and there are still some ruins of old barracks. There were originally 32 natural villages in Laiguangying Township. From the names of some villages, we can see the regional characteristics of that year. For example, there are many village names with the word "camp" in Laiguangying Township. Now there are Laiguangying, Warriors Camp, Qinghe Camp and Huangjunying Camp, all of which are related to the stationing of troops in the early Ming Dynasty and the Eight Banners in the Qing Dynasty to defend the capital.

There are many graves in Wangjing West Garden

Laiguangying area is still a royal graveyard because it is located in the suburbs of Ming and Qing Dynasties. Dignitaries, palace maids, eunuchs and even some royalty are buried here.

In terms of place names, there were as many as 14 villages that came to Guangying Township with graves, such as Shijia Tomb, Zhaojia Tomb, Wangye Tomb and Liugongzhufen. Shijiafen Village is located in the west of Kangdu Community in Australia. It is one of the few old villages left in Wangjing, but it has been listed in the scope of demolition. "Zhaojiafen" is now the area around Wangjing West Park. The "Liugongzhufen" near Wanghe Bridge is the tomb of Princess Shou Engulun, the sixth daughter of Emperor Daoguang of Qing Dynasty. The Ming and Qing tombs excavated on Wangjing West Road some time ago also show that there used to be a large cemetery in Wangjing.

from the 196s to the early 198s, the word "grave" at the end of these village names in Laiguangying Township was changed to "village", "Zhuang" and "tun" one after another.

Interesting changes

Huajiadi —— Painter's Land

Huajiadi Community, located in the northeast corner of the North Fourth Ring Road, was once a prickly ash land.

"It turns out that this area is a farmland, on which a large area of Zanthoxylum bungeanum is planted, so this area is also called Zanthoxylum bungeanum." The older generation of "Old Wangjing" told reporters.

In early p>1988, Chengkai Group built the first batch of residential quarters in Wangjing Community in this pepper field, which was homonymized as "Huajiadi Community". Now Huajiadi has been divided into several communities, such as Huajiadi Xili, Huajiadi Beili, Huajiadi Nanli and Huajiadi, which is a large residential area in Wangjing.

A few years ago, as the Central Academy of Fine Arts moved to Huajiadi, a large number of artists gathered nearby, and Huajiadi was gradually dubbed as "painter's land", while its real original name "Zanthoxylum bungeanum" was almost forgotten.

1 The original Wangjing was a village

Most of the land in the current "Wangjing Community" actually did not belong to Wangjing. At present, the area north of Nanhu East Garden, including Wangjing Garden and Wangjing Science and Technology Park, was originally under the jurisdiction of Laiguangying Township. The south part of Atlantic New Town on the south side basically belongs to Jiangtai Township. The real Wangjing is in a Wangjing village next to Jingshun Road.

2 Nanhu Lake, Beihu Lake and Donghu Lake

originally belonged to Nanhu Dongyuan Community in the northwest of Laiguangying

Wangjing, and previously belonged to Nanhu Canal, Beihu Canal and Donghu Canal, which were originally under the jurisdiction of Laiguangying Township.

Nanhu Canal has already been demolished, and now several residential areas have been built in its original place. Now Nanhu Canal Xili, Jijing Qinyuan, Yinling International, Nanhu Dongyuan, Nanhu Zhongyuan and Nanhu Xiyuan are the original locations of Nanhu Canal Village.

Two villages, Donghu Canal and Beihu Canal, still exist. Donghu Canal is located in the west of Wangjing Garden and the east of Beixiaohe Park. Now it is a "village in the city" in Wangjing. Beihu Canal is located in the northwest of Wangjing, and there are still a large number of residents living here.
