Brief introduction of the founder of group psychology

Jacob Levy Moreno [1] 1889.5.18 [2]-1974.5.14], American psychologist, founder of psychodrama therapy, pioneer of group psychotherapy. Mr. Hao Bin, an early practitioner of social psychological drama in China, once described it in his paper "Early Development Trend and Application Scope of Social Drama in China". The founder of psychological drama, Dr. JL Moreno, developed four theories in his life: psychological drama, social drama (social psychological drama), social measurement and role training. He was born into a Jewish family in Bucharest, Romania, and died in Beacon, new york, USA.

There are six children in Moreno's family, and Moreno is the eldest. In 1894, the family moved to Vienna, Austria. In 199, Moreno entered the University of Vienna, majoring in mathematics and philosophy. In 1912, he switched to medicine, and in 1917, he received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Vienna. After graduation, he soon became the head of a children's hospital in Mittendorf. From 1919 to 1925, Moreno worked as a public health care worker in Vienna and Voslau, Austria, and immigrated to the United States in 1925. Moreno obtained a doctor's license in 1927, and married Beatrice Beecher, a social worker, in new york in 1928, and became a full American citizen. The marriage lasted only six years. In 1931, he entered the emerging prison in new york as a psychiatrist. He classified and matched the prisoners according to their socio-economic background, personality characteristics and living area. In this group, Moreno wanted to train them how to get along and communicate with another person in the same group until these prisoners were released from prison. He hoped that such training would help them return to real community life and establish a support system so that they could establish relationships with others. This is also the origin of group psychotherapy.
