Brief introduction of Fuqing dialect

Fuzhou dialect belongs to Fujian dialect, and the locals call it Pinghua. Fuqing dialect is a post-official dialect in the south of Jin 'an dialect, which is popular in Tan peace county, Fuqing City. At the same time, some residents in Xincuo Town of Fuqing mainly use Puxian dialect. Both of them belong to Min branch of Sino-Tibetan language family.

There are some differences in pronunciation and intonation between Fuqing dialect and Fuzhou urban accent. Fuqing dialect mostly uses falling tone at the end, while Fuzhou dialect is the opposite. Both of them belong to Mindong dialect. So far, many ancient Chinese words have been preserved. Such as: CuO (home), Ding (pot), Ru (friend), CuO Li (wife), hen (hen), getting up early (morning). The phonetic part is more complicated than the four tones in modern Chinese. There were eight tones in the early days, called eight tones, and now there are seven tones.

The pronunciation of Fuqing dialect is even the same as that of Japanese Song Yin introduced to Japan through Taiwan Province Province in Song Dynasty. For example, the pronunciation of county annals is exactly the same as that of Japanese characters. On the contrary, it is quite different from the pronunciation of modern Chinese. In addition, there are words such as property, decline, distress, attitude, gratitude and prosecution, which are all the same, but the grammar is different, just like those in other parts of Fujian Province.

Fuqing dialect is a branch of Fuzhou dialect, an ancient Chinese dialect, which retains many characteristics of ancient Chinese. As a living fossil of China language, it has obvious features of ancient Central Plains language in pronunciation and grammar. In Fuqing, where there are many immigrants, overseas Chinatown or Zhonghua Street is still an important language for communication between fellow villagers. Under the government's policy of banning dialects, it is in danger of entering history. The number of people who speak Fuqing dialect is decreasing day by day, and most old people can only say that they can't write or use near-sound characters instead.

With Fuqing people's footprints all over the world, Fuqing people's wealth accumulation has a great influence on overseas Chinese. The influence of Fuqing dialect is not limited to Fuqing, but can be heard overseas, such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Britain, Japan, South Africa, Argentina, the United States and Australia, basically as long as there is a Chinatown.
