I come from Fuzhou. What should I do to move my hukou to Hong Kong? How much will it cost? How long will it take?

Entry into Hong Kong is based on the right of abode in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region:

According to paragraph 2 of Schedule/KLOC-0 to the Immigration Ordinance, which came into effect on July 1, 1997, anyone is a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and enjoys the right of abode in the Region:

(1) China citizens born in Hong Kong before or after the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

(b) China citizens who have ordinarily resided in Hong Kong for a continuous period of seven years or more before or after the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

(c) a China child born outside Hong Kong before or after the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and at the time of the birth of the child, the China citizen is a person who meets the requirements in item (a) or (b).

(d) Persons who entered Hong Kong with valid travel documents before or after the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and have ordinarily resided in Hong Kong for a continuous period of seven years or more and have taken Hong Kong as their permanent residence.

(e) A child born in Hong Kong before or after the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region by a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region who is under the age of 265,438+0, and whose father or mother has enjoyed the right of abode in Hong Kong at any time before the child was born or reached the age of 265,438+0.

(6) Persons other than residents in items (1) to (5) who only had the right of abode in Hong Kong before the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

According to the law, a valid permanent identity card is evidence that the person concerned enjoys the right of abode in Hong Kong. Before you register and apply for a permanent identity card, you need to prove that you are qualified to register under the Registration of Persons Ordinance and regulations. To this end, we have made administrative arrangements for you to apply for verification of your eligibility for a permanent identity card. Please complete the application form (ROP 145) and mail it to the Right of Abode Section of the Immigration Department.
