The passport of the People's Republic of China is valid for five years and can be extended twice, each time not exceeding five years. The extension of passports of China citizens who have settled in China shall be handled by the public security departments (bureaus) of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government and the exit-entry administrative departments of public security organs authorized by them; The extension of passports of citizens living in China before leaving the country shall be handled by the exit-entry administration department of the public security organ at the place where the original documents are issued or where the household registration is located.
