Liuyuan Reservoir Project in Shangli County, Pingxiang City is located in Liuyuan Village, Jiguanshan Township, upstream of Lishui River in Lushui River Basin, about 9.3km away from Zaomu Reservoir (medium-sized reservoir). The dam site is located in the valley near Liuyuan Village, Jiguanshan Township, and the dam site is about 10km away from Shangli County. The controlled watershed area above the initial dam site is about 15.9km2, and the normal water level is initially set at 65433.
