Why do many Lao people go to Thailand?

First of all, regarding the language, Lao and Thai belong to the same branch (Thai-Lao branch), which is very similar in itself. Laotians and Thais can understand each other 70%-80% in daily life.

Secondly, Thailand is economically developed and influential in Southeast Asia. Laos is a "least developed country".

Thirdly, Thailand and Laos are neighboring countries, and Vientiane and Thailand face each other across the river.

So some young Lao people can speak Thai and go to Thailand to develop.
